*Note: Folders are only available for MarkUp.io Pro and MarkUp.io Enterprise accounts. Users on the MarkUp.io Free plan do not have access to Folders but will see all MarkUps within the Workspace. Read on for the different MarkUp.io subscription tiers here.
Folders make it easier to manage and organize large-scale projects that require multiple reviewers. You can add users individually to a Folder to increase security and privacy for your MarkUps. You can also create up to five layers of Sub-Folders within your main Folders for added organization.
Security
You can invite users to specific Folders to add additional security and privacy when it comes to feedback execution. If you’d like to invite individual users to Folders, check out this article about Inviting Users.
Organizing
How you organize Folders depends on organizational preference and personal preference. For example, when working on confidential customer projects, you can limit viewing permissions in a Folder by only giving access to those who are qualified to review. Therefore, having a game plan for your Folder organization can improve how MarkUps are managed while scaling efficiently and effectively in MarkUp.io from the start! For a bit of organization inspiration, we have some examples of best practices listed below:
Folders by teams
Review and collaboration workflows might look quite different for each team. Some have multiple ideation stages, some have longer research processes, and some have several iterations of the same solution in different formats. Creating separate Folders for each team will enable them to create a workflow that best suits their needs.
Folder per team member
For small to medium-sized teams or companies, using Folders can help streamline how all members can manage the content they’re collecting feedback on. Giving each team member their own Folders allows them to easily view all MarkUps they’re working on and create Folders within Folders for additional structure.
Folder per customer
For some small to medium-sized agencies and freelancers, Folders are a great way to manage individual clients you are working with. You simply create a Folder per customer. If you are working on multiple MarkUps with them, the ability to create Folders within a Folder will allow you to manage every MarkUp much more efficiently. To block unauthorized access to a MarkUp or Folder, just toggle off the share link at the MarkUp or Folder level.
Folders by project stage
This use case is super useful for anyone working on large projects involving several stakeholders and multiple milestones. You can create separate Folders for each stage, breaking down the milestones and versions into subfolders. This is a great way to declutter and ensure you get targeted, relevant feedback with minimal distractions.
